listen + attitude

listude(リスチュード)は、「listen(=聴く)」と「attitude(=態度・姿勢)」を掛け合わせた造語です。

listude is a coined word that combines “listen” and “attitude.”

In a world overflowing with all kinds of sounds, we want to maintain an “attitude of listening.” Music is created not only by “expressing” but also by “listening.” The act of “listening” is also an act of sincerely and genuinely “opening” oneself.

It is not merely receiving sounds; it means opening your ears, clearing your mind, and facing the sounds before you and the world behind them. We believe that, not only in music but also in people’s voices, the sounds of nature, and even silence, attuning your ears to all kinds of resonance is itself a way of relating to the world.

Listening is an act of finding beauty in everyday scenes. This is the starting point of everything at listude.

activity

Two PracticesThe Dual Axes of Product and Event

This “attitude of listening” is the starting point for all of our activities.
We put this philosophy into practice in two ways.

これらを統合し、scenery(正12面体)/sight(立方八面体)/vision(正8面体)という各モデルには、それぞれの“風景”を音として表現するおもいが込められています。

1.Shaping Sound / Products

One aspect is shaping sound. We create speakers, based on our unique design philosophy, that naturally open up music into the space.

Coaxial Structure:
By aligning the axes of the high and mid-low frequencies, the sound focuses properly and imaging becomes natural.

Omnidirectional:
Sound spreads evenly in all directions, maintaining a natural sound field no matter where you listen.

Polyhedral Structure:
Highly symmetrical shapes achieve both expansive sound and beautiful presence.

By integrating these elements, each model—scenery (regular dodecahedron), sight (cuboctahedron), and vision (regular octahedron)—embodies the desire to express a unique “scenery” through sound. We don’t just make speakers that produce sound. Our aim is to create mediums that open up the soundscapes painted by music into the space.

2.Transforming Sound into Place / Creating Events and Spaces

The other aspect is creating “spaces for listening.” In 2007, we began our activities with “IEUTAGE,” a home-style event combining sound and food. Since then, through events such as “CHISO”—where we listen to the local climate and history and engage with the land through sound and music—we have continually worked to create multifaceted environments centered around sound, going beyond mere appreciation.

Currently, we are progressing with the “Forest Hall” concept in a forest in Hokuto City, Yamanashi Prefecture. In this project, we aim to establish a music hall as a spatial experience, combining architecture by the firm “Hitotomori” with the unique acoustic qualities of the forest’s terrain, wind, and arrangement of trees. We seek to open up the experience of “listening” in the space between architecture and nature—creating a space where simply attuning your ears becomes music itself. That is the kind of environment we aspire to create.

To be close to everyday life
We want to deliver sound tools that become an understated
part of everyday life, bringing long-lasting joy.
Starting from a sense of questioning
We face the fundamental issues of sound and music,
beginning our proposals by questioning the status quo.
Contributing to the deepening of culture
Rather than chasing fleeting trends,
we aim to nurture the richness of the culture of listening itself.
Go beyond boundary
From acoustics and art, technology and nature,
to making and delivering,
From product design to spatial implementation,
we are involved in every aspect of shaping spaces for listening,
opening up new landscapes by crossing all kinds of boundaries.

vision

Imagine a scenery.
Where people gather and listen to music reverently like they are praying.
People are satisfied with music.
Smiling, frowning, and even tearful faces can be found among the crowd.
